San Pellegrino University Foundation
In October 2010 the Nida Institute signed the charter of the San Pellegrino University Foundation with three other charter members. This Foundation provides the Nida Institute with a campus facility in Misano Italy to pursue its goal to provide scholarly and professional development in translation.
The result is a substantial increase in the number and sustainability of programmatic services and operational activities, including: Nida School of Translation Studies that meets annually for a two-week postdoctoral translation studies event; several multi-subject one-week seminars that serve the United Bible Societies as well as other Nida Institute allies; a European Union connection to University relations, accreditation, and funding sources; an authentic identity vis à vis Translation Studies institutions as a platform for its scholarly pursuits, including publishing.
The other three partners are the Servite Fathers, the muncipalities of Rimini and Misano, and Itinera (a hospitality training company). The Foundation, recognized by the European Union as an accredited educational center, operates within the Italian civil laws governing non-profit educational institutions.
